  • Maintain and update the company’s registers and minutes books.

Employment Pass

To legally work in Singapore, all foreign citizens must obtain a work visa first. Thus, after registering a Singapore company, all potential employers must apply for relevant types of work visas for all their foreign employees. Such as EP, S Pass, Work Permit and Dependent Pass.

Business license

In Singapore, not all businesses require a specific license to operate beyond mandatory business registration with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). However, many businesses in regulated industries must obtain specific licenses and permits from relevant government agencies before they can legally begin operations.

Businesses and Activities Requiring Licenses

Licenses are generally required for industries with specific regulatory standards, often related to public safety, health, and welfare. Common examples include:

  • Food & Beverage (F&B): Restaurants, cafes, hawker stalls, and catering require a Food Shop License from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), and a Liquor License if serving alcohol.
  • Healthcare & Wellness: Clinics, pharmacies (Health Sciences Authority - HSA), and massage parlors/spas (Singapore Police Force - SPF) need specific licenses.
  • Education: Private schools, tuition centers, and childcare centers are regulated by the Ministry of Education (MOE) or the Committee for Private Education (CPE).
  • Real Estate and Employment: Real estate agencies need a license from the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA), and employment/recruitment agencies from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
  • Financial Services: Businesses in money changing, fund management, or insurance are licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
  • Travel and Tourism: Travel agencies require a license from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
  • Import/Export: Businesses trading in controlled goods (e.g., pharmaceuticals, high-technology items) need permits from Singapore Customs and other authorities.
  • Construction: Requires permits and registrations from authorities like the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).
